There was a congressional sub-committee hearing on "Early Adoption of Meaningful Use Of EMR". Let’s hope O-NCHIT is listening to what they say and take serious the fact that there is increasing concern about the scope and timing of these requirements. If their goal is to make it so just 10-20% of the EPs can meet the MU criteria, then the folks from this meeting would say they appear to be doing well. But if their goal is to get over 50%, then they may need to rethink some of the complexity of the requirements and the timing involved in meeting them.

Tara Hunt notes: When we opened CS, there were some other coworking-ish spaces in town: artist spaces, writers spaces and, of course Teh Hat Factory (which we opened with several others in spring 2006). But there weren’t any CoWorking spaces. Today I think there are something like 7 or 8 of them. And they are doing a damned fine job of moving the movement forward and serving the needs of the community. Which is why when we were told by April (Citizen Space General Manager) that the space was declining in membership and, well, it wasn’t really the community hub it used to be, I sat back and pondered the future of Citizen Space... So…the time has come for Citizen Space to move on. We’ve put a call out to see if anyone wants to take it over or otherwise put the time into it that we no longer can (I’m in Montreal, Hillary has a baby and a house outside of SF and Chris is at Google), but really, I’m more than okay with letting it go. It’s done its job. She’s created her legacy. She also notes in the comments: I put in well over $30,000 of my own money over the years (that I could totally use now!). (more)

Interview with Jonathan Bush of Athena Health. Nation didn’t want vertical integration and more pricing power as the cost of healthcare goes up. You know they wanted more buying power, not less... The JP Morgan guy who runs the desk that floats the bonds that hospitals use to finance their activities — these not-for-profit hospitals, you know, they depend on good bond ratings — he said that between 30% and 45% of all the bonds he’s floated in 2010 are underwritten by software, but the life of those bonds, the payback period, is between 10 and 15 years. I don’t know. Do you, Mr. H I Stalk, have any 10- to 15-year-old applications running on your D: drive there? (more)

Peter Kirn believes there's plenty of future potential in Guitar Hero/Rock Band (by Harmonix), just not as much as the M And A knuckleheads counted on. The gaming industry right now talks about User Generated Content, but especially with the addition of Pro mode, Rock Band is one of those precious few titles that might actually deliver.
