Drawing on lessons learned from their forebears--big porches, yes; tin siding, which for residents conjures farm buildings and poverty, no--Charity Bulgrien, Ian Cook, and Obinna Elechi have alighted on the consummate $20,000 home. It's modest--not much more than a box, with a generous front porch and a steep, sloping roof. From the road, it'd barely rate a second take. And yet it's the Rural Studio at its most ambitious. Celery is an open source asynchronous (ASynch) Task Queue/Job Queue (Message Queue) based on distributed Message Passing. It is focused on Real Time operation, but supports scheduling as well... Celery is written in Python, but the protocol can be implemented in any language. It can also operate with other languages using Web-Hook-s. Although Spanish law explicitly provides for CoOperative-s as a kind of legal entity, Igalia is organized as a limited-liability corporation (LLC). The reasons are not entirely clear to me, and periodically come up for debate. One of the issues, though, is that in a cooperative, 85% of your partners have to be Spanish residents, and we did not want that restriction. Spanish workers are employees of Igalia, and folks outside of Spain are freelancers. However once you've been in the assembly for an amount of time, currently 2 years (way too long IMO), you have the option to become a legal partner in the business, purchasing an equal share of the business at a fixed price.
